A career vision board is a visual representation of your professional goals, aspirations, and the milestones you want to achieve in your career. Benefits of a Career Vision Board

If you are wondering why the hassle to make a work vision board. Here are some of the benefits:

  • Provides Clarity on Career Goals: With routine work and following deadlines, we often miss the bigger goals you have for yourself. A career vision board helps you navigate with clarity.
  • Keeps You Motivated and Focused: We all face tough days at work, and having a vision board lets you stay focused on your big dream and motivates you.
  • Encourages Visualization and Positive Thinking: Visualization is a powerful technique, backed by science, to help achieve goals. It helps you imagine yourself achieving milestones, making you think positive and seek opportunities.
  • Provides a Daily Reminder of Your Ambitions: This so happens so often; we have ambitions of achieving big milestones, but with routine commitments and following supervisors’ instructions, we forget the goals. Having a career vision board is like a constant reminder to strive for the goals and make intentional choices to achieve them.

How to Create a Career Vision Board

Now that you see the benefits of making a career vision board. Let’s get into making a vision board for work and job.

Step 1: Define Your Career Goals

Before you start creating your career vision board, it’s important to get clear about your goals. A vision board works best when it reflects specific aspirations to help you manifest and make the best out of it. You can start by asking yourself, “Where do I see myself in the next year? What about five or ten years from now?” Depending on your current life, your career journey may be something you can accomplish in a year or 5 years. If it’s finding a job, it is possible in a year. But if you are just starting with your first job and want to be team leader, realistically that’s going to take time.

Step 2: Gather Career Vision Board Inspiration

Based on the goals you have made for yourself, start gathering different images, power words, quotes, and phrases that reflect your goals. Also, it is not just about one goal but about little goals and progress required to meet your big goal. For example, if your goal is getting a promotion, your vision board must also include visualization to meet that goal, like upskilling yourself, becoming confident, and being innovative and persistent.

Step 3: Choose Layout and Format

You can make a physical vision board or a digital vision board. The idea is to have your vision board accessible to you and convenient. And this is totally your preference. I do not like to make my vision board public, so for a long time I used to make it in my personal diary. You can make it in a notebook, display it on a wall, or have it as your device screen. Once you decide on the format, think of the layout and the way you will arrange images and words to make it more impactful.

Step 4: Personalize Your Vision Board

I feel personalizing your vision board makes it feel more connected and lively. Bring your personality to the vision board by adding a personal touch; it can be adding your own photo or writing quotes yourself instead of printed text or adding some stickers or aesthetics that reflect you.
