But the fact is that the most busy people are in a bigger need to prioritize self-care. Hence weekends are the best option to practice self-care. In this post, I am sharing 35 Weekend Self Care Ideas that you can try to make your weekend self-care routine. Plan a Self-care Saturday or make a self care Sunday routine using these weekend self care routine lists.
I don’t have a lot of time to spend on self-care so throughout the weekdays I do quick simple self-care activities, you can read about them in 20 Self Care Activities You Can Do In 10 Minutes. But on the weekend you can prioritize yourself and give yourself the luxury to spend more time on self-care. Let’s have a look at some of my weekend self care activities.
Sunday Self Care Ideas
Here are Weekend self-care ideas that you can use to relax, recharge, and make yourself feel better for the week ahead.
1. Catch up on sleep
Catching up on sleep is one of the most important forms of self-care, especially after a demanding workweek. On weekends mostly I try to get up at the same time as weekends as I can finish chores and get more for myself. But on days when I am tired, I prioritize getting the rest I need to recharge my body and mind fully. I’ll often indulge in the luxury of sleeping in, allowing myself to awaken naturally without an alarm clock.
2. Take a long, relaxing bath
Mostly weekday baths are in a hurry with the need to get clean, one of my favorite self-care rituals for the weekend is indulging in a long, relaxing bath. Try dimming the lights and lighting some aromatic candles to create a tranquil atmosphere in your bathroom. Add bath oil or bubbles to fill the air with soothing scents. Enjoy a comforting embrace of the water, let the tension melt away from your muscles, and let go of the stresses of the week. You can also add soft music in the background or a good book in hand. It’s the most relaxing experience.
3. Go for a nature walk
Feeling exhausted from the demands of the week, one of my go-to self-care activities is going for a peaceful nature walk. Stepping outside into the fresh air, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world, instantly lifts the spirits and rejuvenates the soul. Whether it’s a stroll through a nearby park, a hike along wooded trails, or a wander through scenic countryside, being immersed in nature has a calming effect. As you walk, take the time to notice the sights, sounds, and smells around you, to be fully present in the moment and appreciative of the beauty that surrounds you. You will feel recharged and refreshed.
4. Grooming and skin care
A good idea for weekend self-care is to spend time pampering yourself. Use weekends for grooming and skincare to rejuvenate your body. Get started with cleansing and exfoliation to remove any impurities and dead skin cells to reveal a fresh, radiant complexion. Put a nourishing face mask or treatment tailored to your skin’s needs.
While the mask works its magic. Take the time to tend to other grooming tasks, such as trimming your nails, moisturizing your hands and feet, or giving yourself a relaxing at-home manicure and pedicure. As you massage creams into your skin, feel the tension melting away and a sense of calm washing over. It is not just self-care but also essential to look professional at work.

5. Practice mindfulness
By the time the weekend arrives, we are craving a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Try practicing mindfulness. Have some quiet time for yourself, and find a comfortable spot to sit or lie down where you won’t be disturbed. Close your eyes, and begin to focus on your breath, allowing each inhale and exhale to anchor you in the present moment. If thoughts and distractions arise, acknowledge them but let them drift away. Tune your senses, noticing the sensation of air against your skin, the sounds of birds chirping outside, and the subtle aromas in the air. Trust me try it will make you feel so light.
6. Try a new recipe
Sometimes when I am stressed with work I like to spend the weekend cooking something good. Sometimes a comforting meal is all you need to unwind. After watching many videos on social media I realised there are many foods unexplored. So given a chance I like to try new recipes. Cooking has always been a therapeutic escape for me, allowing me to unwind while also satisfying my creative cravings.
Trying new recipes pushes me out of my culinary comfort zone. As I gather the ingredients and prepare the meal, I find myself forgetting about the work and the hardship of the week. It is especially good if you had a difficult week and you are an overthinker as your mind is focused on cooking and following the instructions.
7. Treat yourself to your favorite films or TV shows
When the weekend rolls around and you need some self-care, another good option is treating yourself to your favorite films or TV shows. Create a cozy environment, by dimming the lights and gathering blankets and pillows for maximum comfort. And queue up your go-to movies or series—the ones that never fail to lift your spirits. Whether it’s a classic film that brings back fond memories or a binge-worthy show that captures my imagination, take the opportunity to escape into the stories and characters that you love. Make is more worthy by having your favorite snacks.
8. Get creative with arts and crafts
Whether it’s painting, drawing, knitting, or any other form of artistic expression. You can find immense joy and relaxation in creating something with your own hands. Set aside dedicated time in your schedule, gather the supplies, and let your imagination run wild. There’s something incredibly therapeutic about the process of bringing ideas to life on paper or canvas, or weaving together colors and textures to craft something unique and beautiful.
It brings a sense of mindfulness allowing you to let go of stress and tension and simply be present in the moment. Whether your creations turn out perfectly or not, the act of making art fills you with a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction, leaving you feeling inspired and recharged for the week ahead.
9. Do a digital detox
When in need of some serious self-care, nothing beats a digital detox on the weekend. I make a conscious effort to disconnect from your devices—no emails, no social media, no screens. Instead, focus on being present in the moment and fully immersing myself in the world around me. I might spend time outdoors, going for a walk or hike, and soaking up nature’s beauty without the distraction of notifications or alerts.
You can also engage in offline activities like reading a book, practicing yoga, or indulging in a creative hobby. Stepping away from technology, gives you the space to recharge mentally and emotionally, allowing your mind to unwind and thoughts to wander freely. It’s a refreshing break from the constant noise and stimulation of the digital world, and it leaves you feeling more centered, balanced, and grounded.
10. Read a book or listen to an audiobook
If you love reading and a busy life does not allow you. Weekends are the perfect time for it. Escape into the pages of a good book or immerse yourself in the world of an audiobook. Make some quiet time for yourself, find a cozy spot to curl up with a blanket and your favorite beverage, and enjoy reading. Whether it’s fiction or non-fiction, a thrilling mystery or a heartwarming romance, reading allows you to escape from the stresses of everyday life and lose yourself in another world.
11. Take a nap
Ah, the simple pleasure of a nap—there’s nothing quite like it for self-care on the weekend. When I’m feeling worn out from the demands of the week, I give myself permission to indulge in some much-needed rest. Whether it’s a quick power nap or a longer siesta, it wakes you up feeling refreshed and clear mind. It’s a simple yet effective way to prioritize my well-being and show myself some much-deserved care and kindness.
12. Have a picnic
Try some outdoor relaxation. I love old-style picnics, playing outdoors, and eating on the mat. Gather some delicious snacks, sandwiches, and refreshing drinks, along with a cozy blanket and a book or some music. Get something to play and head to a nearby park, beach, or even your backyard. I like to avoid parks and go to some nature spots nearby that are not famous to avoid crowds. Soak up the sunshine and enjoy nature’s beauty. Fresh air, sunshine, and nature around is a relaxing and fulfilling experience. And also a good way to bond and enjoy with friends and family.
13. Visit a cozy cafe
One of my favorite self-care activities is visiting a good cafe. I like to seek out a cafe that is cozy and local. Find yourself a comfortable seat by the window or in a corner. And just be in the moment feel the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the soothing sounds of soft music playing in the background. Relax yourself with your favorite hot beverage and a sweet treat or savory snack to accompany it. As you sip the drink read or plan the coming week. Or better get nostalgic with old friends. It feels calming.
14. Volunteer your time
If you are someone who likes to contribute to society and give back then volunteering on weekends is a good option. There are organizations and causes that could benefit from your help, whether it’s serving meals at a local soup kitchen, spending time with animals at a shelter, or participating in a community cleanup project. Volunteering not only allows you to make a positive impact on others but also provides a sense of fulfillment and purpose. It’s the sense of joy that you receive by giving something to others. So why not dedicate a few hours of your weekend to giving back to your community? You will be nourishing your soul in the process.
15. Listen to music and create a new playlist
Find a cozy spot in your home where you can unwind, whether it’s on your couch, in your favorite armchair, or even lying on a blanket in your backyard. Put on some of your favorite tunes or explore new artists and genres that you’ve been curious about. As you listen, let yourself get lost in the music, allowing it to evoke emotions and memories, inspire ideas, and transport you to different places.
Take note of the songs that resonate with you, whether it’s their catchy beats, meaningful lyrics, or soothing melodies. Then, start curating your playlist, selecting tracks that reflect your mood, preferences, and vibe. Creating a new playlist is not only fun but will help you relax during the weekday by listening to the right music during your commute or while doing mundane tasks.
16. Treat yourself
Whether it’s indulging in your favorite dessert, splurging on a little retail therapy, or pampering yourself with a luxurious spa treatment, take the time to do something that brings you joy and makes you feel good. Treat yourself to a movie or spend some time doing something creative, like painting or crafting. Whatever it is that makes you feel happy and fulfilled, make it a priority and treat yourself to a little bit of self-indulgence. You deserve it!

21. Spend time in your garden
Spending time in your garden can be a delightful form of self-care. If you do not have a backyard or garden make your green space on the balcony or in the house with indoor plants. My favorite self-care is a trip to the nursery and buying more plants. They are never enough. Spend time simply noticing the vibrant colors and fragrant scent. Or roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty as you tend to your garden, planting new flowers, pruning bushes, or harvesting fruits and vegetables. Spending time in your garden can be a therapeutic and rewarding experience, providing a sense of peace, purpose, and connection to the natural world.

As the sun begins to dip below the skyline, take a moment to pause and soak in the colors that paint the sky. Allow yourself to be fully present in the moment, appreciating the natural beauty and tranquility that surrounds you. Whether you’re alone with your thoughts or sharing the experience with loved ones, watching the sunset can be deeply calming.

Wrap yourself in a soft blanket, slip into your coziest pajamas, and make yourself a cup of your favorite hot beverage like tea, hot chocolate, or a soothing herbal infusion.
